Rain, Anniversary, A Cold

I started this back in June and didn't finish it so I'm going to try and remember what I was trying to say and add to it.
Today was really rainy! July is rainy season so we are headed that way. Thankfully, I was able to walk in between the downpours. The timing was just right. The weather has been a bit cooler which has been nice. We had an early heat wave this spring so it was nice to have a break before the real heat hits. The humidity was up today in addition to the rain. Inside was really sticky! Cameron and I are glad that we will be leaving the first week of August so we will miss the hottest, stickiest part of the year.
I am on medication now for hyperthyroidism. The doctor has to start out with a low dose to get it right and the first round was a bit difficult. Since the thyroid deals with hormones I was a bit moody. Cameron can attest to that. He was patient with me - I'm grateful for such an amazing and understanding husband.
Saturday was our 5 year anniversary. We planned to spend the day together and have a nice date. Our plan was to go to see The Incredible Hulk and the new Indiana Jones movie. I started feeling kind of bad on Friday I think it was. Friday night I took some medicine that didn't agree with my stomach. On Saturday we had planned to leave for Gwangju in the morning to catch the early showings of the movies. Since my stomach was upset we ended up hanging out that morning. I was feeling weak, but I still wanted to go out. I decided finally after we ate a quick snack that we could go. I was still feeling kind of iffy, but I didn't want our anniversary to be totally ruined. We found a theater in Gwangju that was closer to Naju. We planned to see the movies and then maybe go to Outback for supper. We went ahead and bought both sets of tickets. The Incredible Hulk was amazing! The special affects and story line were great! I noticed that I was starting to feel kind of yucky during the movie - a bit feverish. We decided that we wouldn't be able to wait to eat so we went to Lotteria in the Emart next door. Not our favorite, but it was enough. I was really not feeling very good at this point. We had already got the tickets and both of us really wanted to see the movie so I decided to tough it out. My personal opinion of that movie is that it was awful. I was so upset that we had wasted our time. I should have just listened to my body and gone home before the movie. I felt terrible during hte whole thing, but I kept hoping it would get better so when Cameron asked if I wanted to leave in the middle I said no. I was very disappointed. Not great for something they waited almost 20 years to make. We decided to skip Outback and head for home. By that time I was feeling feverish and achy. This is the only time when you wish you didn't live 35 min by direct bus. I was able to take some Tylenol and when we got on the bus I immediately tried to get as comfortable as possible so I could sleep - not easy when you feel yucky. Cameron was as helpful as he could be under the circumstances. We got a taxi and headed for home. I think I tried to eat a little something since we hadn't eaten much that day. Then I went to bed.
The medication I had been on was causing me to have trouble sleeping which didn't combine well with a few sick students at school. I think this might be what caused my immune system to be low. I probably took acetominophen PM or an antihistamine to sleep that night. I'm not sure but I think the fever I had Sunday was the highest I ever had 102.9 F. I spent most of Sunday sleeping or trying to sleep. I think I was out of bed for only 3 or 4 hours. Cameron was a great nurse. He made me soup which I ate and then was sent back to bed. He took good care of me. I felt pretty yucky!
If I remember right that week I started to feel better Monday or Tuesday. I went to the doctor to get more of my medicine. Then as the week went on I was still coughing pretty badly. I felt better, but couldn't get rid of the cough. I ended up going back that Friday I think or maybe it was the following week. All I remember is that I was trying to get over being sick for at least a week. I remember getting a bit worried because my trip home for the wedding was coming up. I finally went to a pharmacy in Naju hoping that they could contact my doctor to get a script for cough medicine. This was the plan anyway. The fax machine wasn't working so I ended up having to see the doctor in Naju and he gave me medicine that didn't work too well. I wasn't very happy. I finally went and got some cough medicine for my trip back since my was all gone. It worked ok, but it wasn't the greatest. I think American medicine may be stronger than Korean medicine in some ways depending on what you get.
Thankfully I was able to take my trip without too much of a problem.
